▮ Freight & shipping
What freight do you specialize in?
Admiral Merchants specializes in open deck freight, including legal, over-dimensional, and heavy-haul loads. We focus on shipments moved by flatbed, step deck, RGN, and Conestoga trailers.
What areas do you serve?
Admiral operates throughout all 48 contiguous states, with service extending to Canada and Alaska. The company maintains established freight lanes in the Midwest, Southeast, Northeast, and Mountain West regions, with nationwide capacity to serve shippers regardless of origin or destination.
Can you handle oversized freight?
Yes. Admiral has extensive experience with over-dimensional loads. We manage the full process including permit applications, route surveys, pilot car coordination, and escort services. Contact our team with your freight dimensions and we will advise on equipment and routing options.
How do I request a freight quote?
Request a freight quote by emailing our team. Provide your pickup and delivery locations, freight type, equipment needed, and timing requirements. An Admiral freight specialist will respond promptly with pricing and availability.
Who manages my shipments?
Our operations team manages your shipments from the moment your quote is confirmed through final delivery. We have a substantial agent network that has been serving North America for decades. Your shipment is in good hands with the experience and expertise of our staff and team.
▮ Drivers & Owner-Operators
What experience is required to partner with Admiral?
We require 2 years verifiable OTR experience and 1 year of verifiable open deck experience. That is the minimum.
What equipment do you accept?
Admiral works with flatbed, step deck, RGN, and other open deck equipment in good operating condition that meets current DOT safety standards. There are no equipment age requirements, but all equipment must be able to pass a DOT inspection. Contact our recruiting for specifics.
What are the basic qualification expectations?
At a minimum, drivers need a valid Class A CDL and a satisfactory CSA score in good standing, verifiable commercial experience, and equipment meeting DOT standards. Insurance is not required, as this is something we provide. Contact our recruiting team if you have questions about your specific situation.
Do you force dispatch?
Absolutely not. You are an independent owner-operator and your right to choose your loads is fully respected at Admiral. You decide what you haul, where you run, and when you are available. No pressure, ever.
How does same-day pay work?
Once your load is delivered and your paperwork is submitted through our system, payment is processed the same business day. No waiting periods, no delays – your money is available when you earn it.
How long does onboarding take?
The onboarding process can take between 1-2 weeks, depending on how quickly verifications are completed and documents are made available. Requirements can be found on the Driver page.
Do I need my own operating authority?
No. You operate under Admiral’s MC number as part of your lease agreement. If you already have your own authority, you must suspend/dissolve it.
What documents are required to lease on?
See the Driver page for current list of required documents.
How do I lease on with Admiral?
Follow the instructions on the Driver page to get started on an application. Contact our recruiter if you have any questions.
What are the compliance requirements for drivers?
All drivers must maintain a valid Class A CDL, a current DOT medical card, and satisfactory CSA scores. Please contact our Safety Department immediately with any compliance-related questions.
How do I submit load paperwork?
All load documentation including signed bills of lading, delivery receipts, and any exception paperwork should be submitted through the Admiral driver portal. Your dispatcher will confirm the correct submission process during orientation.
Who do I contact for support?
For dispatch and load questions, contact your assigned dispatcher. For safety and compliance, reach out to the Admiral safety team. For settlements or back-office questions, contact the operations support team. All contact details are provided during orientation and available in your driver portal.
Who can I contact with recruiting questions?

What do I need to become an agent?
At a minimum, we require all agents have a personal computer that can support our software to enter and dispatch loads, a strong internet connection, and a cell phone.
How long does onboarding take?
Once you’ve been approved for an agency, we can usually begin training within 1-2 days.
How does brokering work with Admiral?
You can use our in-house brokerage department to manage your shipments or find your own brokerage trucks, once the carrier is approved as a partner carrier with Admiral.
▮ PARtner carriers

Admiral settles completed trips with its carrier partners weekly, as long as all required paperwork has been received.
How long do I need to have my authority to haul for Admiral?
Your authority must be at least 6 months old and have active operating history associated with it.
What insurance do I need to haul for Admiral?
Partner carriers must carry at least $100,000 in cargo insurance and $1,000,000 in auto liability coverage.
Does Admiral have good rates?
Admiral works to offer strong freight opportunities to qualified carrier partners. We set a high standard for customer service, communication, and follow-through, and carriers who meet that standard can build long-term access to Admiral’s freight network.
What kind of onboarding process does Admiral use?
Admiral onboards all partner carriers through Highway. To begin the process, call the Admiral Brokerage Team at 612-843-8274 so we can send you the proper onboarding link.
How do I submit paperwork after delivery?
It’s easy. Email all completed paperwork to our billing department after delivery, and we will process the load when all required documents have been received.
What types of equipment do you look for?
Admiral looks for qualified partner carriers with dry vans, flatbeds, step decks, RGNs, Conestogas, hot shots, and heavy-haul equipment. While Admiral’s fleet is focused on open deck equipment, van and specialized carrier partnerships are especially important in helping our agents serve the full range of customer needs.
